How young am I?

Several yrs ago, I cherished birthdays and their parties, now, I'm not sure. My birthday is next week, and I've totally forgotten what people used to do.

Pls don't ask 'how old', I'll just accept 'how young', but only if I know what I'll be doing on that day.

Ok let's see how young you are: A few questions for you.

Were you around when Radio was strictly one channel? And you listened to news only? Strictly?

Ever watched a black and white TV? Do you know what Great Wall is?

Ever heard of Elizabeth Obege? What about Omollo somebody Elizabeth I think?

Did you ever eat Chapos once a year over christmas?

Were you around when ladies were using lipstick that was green and turned pink on contact with the lips?

Were you around when Ladies roasted their hair with a metal comb straight out of the fire? Or worse still a blue band tin perforated at the bottom and filled with hot charcoal?

Speaking of blueband, have you ever seen blueband in a tin? Not plastic but tin?

Are you aware that someone born in 1990 is now approaching the end of teenage? And someone born in 1994 is now a teenager?

Over to you Maua hehehehe.

@Neema, thanx, I hope I live old enough to blow half of them. Kids like sponge, not sure what I like. I might just try them all. I'll reserve you a piece, I promise.

@ PKW, I'll try, as soon as I figure how.

@ Shiko, not sure about one channel, but one national, one general and one kikuyu sounds more like it with my favs Gaithuma Kimumu amd Jemima Mwaura, Liz Omollo was fab. I forgot Amina Fakhii, with Leonard Mambo Mbotela immediately after church on Sunday, Lenny Mwashegwa was so teenie. TV was only VoK, on wed nite I watched 6 million dollar man.

Ati chapos on Xmas, only if mathe was up to it, otherwise till next easter, and magic lipsticks are still around. Now, wacha roasting hair with a kimbo tin, when it overprocessed, my mum would force me to wash it and then mama Akinyi round the corner would plait it with thick black thread, it hurt for weeks and my mum would go'mwenda uthaka ndacayaga'.

I saw a plastic blueband container when I went home on holidays after several yrs away, and 1990 is an understatement, any 8-4-4 is a kid. How'z that for 'I'm guilty on all counts', should I continue, ama should I be blogging?

You need weight? You can have mine! With all the 'tyres' and 'love handles' inclusive.

When you grow older, birthdays, like Christmas, lose their magic. But be sure to treat yourself, look fabulous and be at peace.

Happy Birthday in advance.

hope am not too late in wishing you a happy birthday, though i must say i was nt around when bluband was in metal cans, or was I? when radio was only KBC? but yes, i do remember us having a black and white telly....we watched Sesame St, and wrestling with my dad...

@prettylyf, still thinking where to go.

@Shiko, Amina Fakhii was the bomb, no no, Abdul Haq was. Hadly heard what he said. And yes, Irene is still alive and kicking, even in london. Irene must have originated from Nigeria, always found in Nijo shops.

@be silent & tandra, I think I'll go to a night vigil in church, best place to count my blessings, silent talk with God.

@bomseh, I don't look it, but I feel it.

@petesmama, no, no, I don't need weight, Neema does. I've come a long way for that. Peace, I need, that's why I'll go vigiling.

@31337, Si u come and vigil with me? Although I'm pushing mine next weekend. Happy birthday.

@frankie, coloured tv station came to being in 1978. U sure it was KBC and not VoK?

Thanx all ya. I'm sure I'll have a great time.

How about "ngore muriite cukari ugthiira, ni mwaigua?" and then you proceed to do the same. On mami's return home, you are ordered to fetch your own cane, get beaten proper and you don't even call the police:-)
You'd have to call her, in your case.

Dear all.

My birthday went well. I got the surprise alright. On Sat, my family and I were meant to go for a family meal out, and I was really looking forth.

At 6.00 o'clock my brother picks me up (and my son too), ready for this meal. Then he decides to run his errands, 'I've got to pick this up, and then we'll go straight to Blackheath (where the supposed restaurant is)'. At 7.45he decides he has to go back to my house to pick up something. By this time I'm all worked up and I'm feeling taken advantage of. He gets out of the car, into the lift and 3 minutes later he phones me, asking me if I knew where his stuff were. I stormed out of the car, and as soon as I got into the lift, my son ran up the stairs. I opened the door, and there were like 20 people on the corridor (including my son) all going 'surprise'.

My galfriends cooked in their houses, and my boyfriends roasted meat and bough drinks. I had a gud time, till 7.00am when the last person left.

I still went to church, got home 1.15pm so tired I just went to bed, till this morning.

I feel fresh now, and READY.

The cake is somewhere on my blog.
